Malkin and other right wingers don’t understand nuance

Michelle Malkin and her ilk have decided to try to make Kerry’s unintended gaffe about Bush leading us into Iraq a slap at the troops. I think most people who listen to the entire speech will realize that the Senator was not trying to malign those who are serving in the military, but rather those people in charge who don’t listen to informed opinions and decide to dictate their own brand of statesmanship.

No problem Michelle. As long as Iraq is the front story of every newspaper across the country, the election will show that the American public does not think Republicans can handle the job. Keep it up - you’re doing a great service to Democrats everywhere.

Workout stats for second week

While I’m still not used to getting up at 5:30am, I have been able to make it to the gym and stayed consistent with working out. Again, mainly cardio work on a stair climber and tread mill. I did add a couple of sauna baths to the mix and was surprised that it gives you a workout as well. I could feel my heart pumping faster due to the heat.

Stats for second week - 750+750+850+1050=3400 calories. That is almost one pound. I hope I can keep up this level.

First week working out

At the urging of a friend (not that I would have taken the step myself), I’ve started working out. The first week was a complete nightmare since I decided to do this all before going to work.

For the past 15 years, I’ve become used to not having to wake up before 6:45 am. Even that hour is a pain-in-the-ass to start a day. Imagine the body shock of waking up at 5:30am! I almost went back to bed the first day.

I made it to the gym at a decent hour and was able to complete 45 minutes of cardio work - what I feel I’ll need to get back to a healthy state. I’ll probably concentrate on this for about six weeks and then add some light weight training, just to get my metabolism running faster.

Stats for first week - Its nice that the current models of cardio machines are loaded with heart rate monitors and calorie calculators. Three workouts this week for a total of 1800 calories, maybe 1850 calories if you count the cooldown periods. That should be 1/2 pound.

Elvis Costello, Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch, & David Rawlings

Sometimes you forget about the hassle of getting around a crowded city and Friday was one of those days. I walked to the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival and was able to see some truly great music makers.

The crowd was enjoying every minute - I guess at least 20,000 strong.
